The sea lions that spend their days lounging around on the docks in San Francisco’s harbor are a tourist attraction in themselves. They jostle for space and take up every available piece of real estate on the floating docks that have been placed in the water for their use. I was surprised by both the number and size of them. Maybe the sea lions are only a novelty to a visiting east coaster, but I was enthralled watching them--a few of them even appeared to be waving hello!

Once again, we're up early.  It's our last day in Napa, so we want to make the most of it.  We attend the morning yoga class at the hotel again.  This morning, the instructor decides to hold the class on the green behind the pool.  The class today has some pilates moves incorporated.  It's still a relaxing intro level class, but we definitely exert more energy than the day before--it's the perfect workout in the cool morning air, just enough to warm up the body.  After a shower, we decide to sha...

We rise at around 6:45am which may seem a bit early on vacation, but we're still acclimating from Eastern Standard Time.  Plus, my husband wants to try the hotel's daily yoga class.  I've never done yoga--I may be the only woman in the U.S. who doesn't own a single pair of yoga pants--but I'm game to see what it's all about.  We grab our morning caffeine fix from the hotel's coffee bar and head to the lobby where the class meets.  It's Saturday, so the hotel is fairly full, and there are a decen...

When the opportunity arose to tack on a few nights in Napa during a trip out to Monterey, CA for my graduation from grad school, I jumped at the chance.  Napa's three part mini-series will take you along with us over the course of a weekend as we explore a little slice of this famous valley.

The traffic snaking northward from Monterey up to the Napa Valley slowly chugs along.  We anxiously anticipate our arrival, but it is clear that it will be delayed a bit by the bumper to bumper...
