The changing of the guard in Athens is a tourist highlight–mainly because of the ornate outfits and pom-pomed shoes the guards are required to wear. All of the guards are specifically picked based upon a number of characteristics, including their height. The ceremony may not be the most interesting I've watched in Europe, but the slow, distinct steps (or high-kicks) that the guards have so synched with one another are definitely worth a look.
