The Middleton Place plantation in Charleston, South Carolina has a stableyard with farm animals and artisan craft workers on display. The biggest draw for me, though, was this amazing peacock showing off his plumes. I’ve never seen one standing on full display like this, and it was majestic to witness. Middleton Place is a great place to get away from the city for a night or two. They have a comfortable inn, delicious restaurant, beautiful plantation and gardens to explore, and are right down the road from the other big-draw plantations in the area (Magnolia and Drayton Hall). I really enjoyed my walks, stay, and meals here!
