Visiting Longwood Gardens (Kennett Square, PA, USA)

Recently I had the opportunity to head up to beautiful Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA for the day. In nice weather, there is nowhere I’d rather be than wandering along one of their meandering paths or through the immense conservatory. There is always something new in bloom to check out. One of my favorite things at Longwood are all of the fountain features spread throughout the garden. I am hoping to get to one of the Illumination Performances–a 30 minute light and music display put on during select nights in the summer at the Main Fountain Garden–sometime soon. I will be sure to document it all if I do! If you get the chance, you should definitely check it out, as well. I love taking the trip up to Kennet Square–even the drive getting there is pretty. Incidentally, Kennet Square itself is an adorable little town. It’s worth a stroll if you are in the area–they have some great shops and unique dining spots!

Over Christmas, we had the opportunity to head to the Christmas at Longwood event they put on each year between late November and early January. Indoors, the garden’s 4.5 acre conservatory houses Christmas displays, decorated trees, poinsettias, and 5,500 other types of plants that you can check out. Outside, they illuminate the trees and paths and even put on a fountain and seasonal music display. I’ve found the ideal way to explore is to get there early enough to enjoy the conservatory before it gets too crowded and then head outside as the daylight begins to fade to get the full effect of all of the outdoor lights! You can check out some of my favorite images from that trip below.
