Athens’ Acropolis is one of the most recognizable sights in all of Europe. If this hill could talk, it would relay thousands of years of history--the rise and fall of empires, the shift from paganism to Christianity, destruction and reconstruction. When I was in Greece in 2009, they were hard at work restoring the sights on the Acropolis. This work began in 1975 and is still ongoing. In a few years, when it’s complete, I hope to get to see this site again, fully restored.
