Main Square in Lucca (Italy)

Lucca is a small walled city in Tuscany north of Florence. It is a pleasant place to spend an afternoon wandering, particularly along its walls which are intact and now function as a park rather than fortifications. You will find less English (i.e. less tourists) and more ‘real Italian’ here than in a lot of the rest of Tuscany. It’s not a far train ride from Pisa and significantly more enjoyable than overrun Pisa and its tower.
