Lisbon has an illustrous history wrought with riches and power struggles. Portugal once practically controlled the seas and global trade routes. Today, though, Lisbon thrives mostly off of tourism. As a visitor, standing in one of Lisbon's gorgeous squares or taking in the cityscape at large, you can still feel for the power this mighty city once held. This view over Lisbon's famed red rooftops and to the fort above is one of my favorites in all of Europe.
