The Blue Mosque in Istanbul is magical. In August, the combination of the mosque's towering blue minarets flanked by these beautiful pink flowering trees made for a perfect picture. A mosque only needs to have one minaret, but this one has 6 (only 3 of them are visible in the picture). The other 5 were built as a display of wealth by the sultan at the time, Ahmed I. Today, they still frame the city skyline over 400 years later.
